Top Ten Songs of the Week – #June19

69 WEEKLY N.E.W.S

New Eclectic and Worthwhile Songs – June 19th, 2021

This week’s NEWS has heavyweights and alte artists dishing out their bests From Anjelique Kidjo to Patoranking, Olamide, Wale Chris Brown and others.

Olamide – Uy Scuti Album

Although this has become a culture for Olamide to bless us with an album annually, this particular album has completely new sounds. It seems like the afrobeats heavyweight is evolving or “starting anew” like he promised.

This 10-track album features Jaywillz, Layydoe, Fave and Phyno.

Olamide says his favourite track on the album is Julie. Mine is Pon Pon.

Tate McRae ft Khalid – Working

Tate’s album is still raving and she ain’t stopping with her wonders. Woman’s working, but on this track she talks about a love that isn’t working. The irony.

“when I’m working, you’re the only one that I want / but we’re not working.”

Khalid is the perfect person to bring into a summer song that talks on toxic cum unrequited love. Perfect collab.

Demmie Vee – Dejavu

It’s always his velvety voice for me. Damn, he sends chills into my spine!

This is the love song you’ve been looking for.

Wale ft Chris Brown – Angels

You already know what to look out for on this track. Although Wale’s skill is highly understated, he doesn’t fail to deliver. His rap is well complemented by a chorus from CB delivered in an amazing voice.

Patoranking – Celebrate me

“Celebrate me now when I dey alive

appreciate me now when I dey alive”

Put this on on a Sunday morning and you’ll feel the service vibes.

Peruzzi – The Leaktape EP

With no prior announcement nor social media hints, Peruzzi drops the Leaktape EP.

This is coming after he dropped the much appreciated Rum and Boogie album earlier this year.

With features of the likes of Boj and Kayswitch, this six tracks Ep is definitely another top work from a hardworking and creative artiste we all love.

Sute Iwar – 199X Album

Get used to these names, Sute Iwar and Tay Iwar; these brothers are soon going to be your favourites.

A beautifully produced 17 track album which shows off great rap and singing skill in telling stories of love, pain and loss.

Savage & Buju – Confident

Are we ever going to get enough of Buju?

“… Girl as long as the money plenty e no go ever finish
Wetin I get I no fit spend am finish
This kind of love I no fit show you finish?“

A groovy sound with amazing vocals and great lyrics from Savage who enlisted the hype of the moment Buju on this.

Angelique Kidjo – Mother Nature Album

In her words, this album is her love letter to Mother Nature.

and her way of passing the African culture to the younger generation.

An upbeat 13-track album with features from the likes of Mr Eazi, Yemi Alade, EarthGang, Sampa the Great amongst others.

PsychoYP – Euphoria

What do you expect from a dope rapper with dope lines?

Dope bars I guess.

Well, that is what PsychoYP served us on this track; dope lines, great bars and great rhythm.
