New Eclectic and Worthwhile Songs – June 26th, 2021
The new songs for this week are absolutely eclectic and worth every while. Seems like Nasty C is on a spree. Reminisce, Justin Skye and Zinoleeky served us with reflective songs. A host of other also gave us something enjoyable to close the month.
Jaido P – Survive ft Olamide
“had a hell of a week
what a hell of a life
ọmọ í no know how I survive”
Enough is already said about Olamide’s versatility and unpredictability— there’s no denying that man’s genius. But what Jaido P did on this track is astonishing— the delivery, how cool it is and how both artists sync perfectly. Even the cheeky lyrics;
“I leave my bread and I dey toast you”
I can’t survive the trance this song puts me in. Worthwhile
Rexxie, Davido – All
“Rexxie ma pa mi na, Na me na”
One thing we all agree on is Davido genius when it comes to love songs and he didn’t fail to deliver on this amazing Rexxie production.
“All that I desire na you
All that I require for you”
Plot twist; you can fun-dance (I know the word doesn’t exist but tuule jhoor) to the track with her.
Nasty C – Jack
More money more problems but fuck it we’ll take it
When we used to be broke it was shitty
Can’t he a nobody in my own city
I reside like the mayor, my windows in tinted
These people ain’t playin’ my songs out of pity,
they actually genuinely fuckin with me
I’m so hooked on the instrumentals of this song! Absolutely insane. Nasty C talks about humble beginnings, loyalty, resilience and restlessness.
Zinoleesky – Naira Marley
“Oh my God I feel brand new” and this song is definitely brand new Zinoleesky.
Quoting lyrics would be a tough job because some hard lines and truth was said here.
PS: listen carefully to the hook.
Lil Kesh, Naira Marley – Korope
Being on the same track with Naira Marley and not being bodied is a tough job these days.
This track didn’t only show Lil Kesh sound evolution but the artiste growth himself without sacrificing his street vibes.
“Ti n ba ti ri waist omo I no get time to waste
Ka ma paro ka ma ja’le
Omo that is the way”
Beautiful song, beautiful rap verse, beautiful production.
Justin Skye – Space and Time album
Pure art.
Not going to say much about this album. Just gonna say Justin leaves for the music. To get a better perspective of the album, you might want to watch her documentary.
Eclectic and Worthwhile.
Terry Apala – Kamba
This is on my list of songs that I imagined won’t go well but is actually wonderful.
Fuji/Apala vibes on the amapiano sound; sounds scary but Terry Apala made it and it is delicious.
Definitely one for your playlist.
MIST – Rollin ft Burna Boy
MIST just shows up everytime to drop a banger and crawls back into a whole till the next banger.
This time he features the self acclaimed African Giant. And you already know, with Burna Boy, you can do absolutely no wrong.
A worthwhile summer jam.
Show Dem Camp – Rise of the Underdogs 2
Reggae hook and rap verses, sounds interesting right?
“…Living out in Lagos where the attitude is fuck them all
If your life no balance, you forget where you are coming from
People just dey come at you and sometimes you don’t wanna talk…”
Omo you want to listen to this, no long talk on it
Reminisce – Ọmọ x 100 ft Olamide
Just when you thought Reminisce was done; he cause with rap lines that leave you screaming”ọmọ!”; Even Baddo couldn’t say more.
The lyrics here are so hard and filled with truths that I’m so pained about the length of the track.
It stopped playing and I was still waiting for the second verse.
