New Eclectic and Worthwhile Songs – September 11th, 2021

Crazy Tings are happening with Afrobeats this September. Different experiments with different new instrumentals beyond the Amapiano. And acts you thought were retired just refired mad shots.

Tems- Crazy Tings

After a successful campaign with her last music project, For Broken Ears. And Her successful collaborations, Essence and Fountains with Wizkid and Drake respectively, the former having a new version with Justin Bieber. Tems serves us with a new track.

In honesty, with the way things blew up, you can’t deny that crazy tings are happening in Tem’s life.

This track has real afrobeats elements. The voice is unique. The style is a mix of Tems and Fela collab to make a new school track. The instrumental and backtone also strenghtens the old school feel this track has— it’s a mix of Wizkid’s Joro and Fela’s live band playing. Lol. Crazy Tings.

Alicia Keys – lala ft Swae Lee

Alicia Keys never seems to age. She gets new with the day.

This track is so calming with the smoothest of lyrics and melodies from two amazing artists. I like how Alicia and Swae Lee flow into each other. You almost won’t recognize who’s singing.

By the way, I think I heard Swae Lee playing with Essence and Wizkid in the hook🤔

Abi, í no hear am well?

Olamide Eskeez- loose it

Wine and Whiskey no be same thing

ọmọ shey you go take if I give you the banana.

The instrumentals give a vibe of middle eastern-Indian sound. You know those ones in Indian movies when they dance? High notes, air instruments, percussion and drums. You dey feel am? Yes, that’s the one.

It’s so cool listening to Olamide sing on such instruments. But that’s not the only amazing thing. The calm voice is alluring. And how Olamide subtly hints at the importance is also amazing: “give me permission make I touch your body”

Brymo – 9/9 Albums

No, it wasn’t a mistake, it is actually a two in one album. Like two albums with the same name released together.

We hear Brymo poetic lyricism aided by his soothing vocals rolling over diverse African melodies.

9/9 albums is definitely another weapon in Brymo fans arsenal to challenge wizkid fc for the better music project title 🥱

2Baba, Bongos Ikwue – Searching

2baba asked us to stay away from his family’s private affairs and I intend doing that but I just have to say that man got my respect man, hats off 2baba.

With so much turmoil at home, man was still able to drop the beauty of a track with the living legend Bongos Ikwue.

The visuals shot in his home town in Benue (not like you don’t know that), further made the track more pleasant to the ears.

illbliss – Fortem EP

I am still annoyed at him for the way he died in King of Boys but that won’t stop me from enjoying good music.

A five hard track Ep produced by illgod whom illbliss claims did most of the work.

Meanwhile, I have forgiven Oga Boss for his tragic death and of his boys in KOB 2, so tell him to call me. 😉

Victoria Kimani – Remedy

First time I will be writing a review for a song by Victoria Kimani or any Kenyan artist.

But this track got me on first listening, maybe because I love love and the track is a love song with a wedding themed video.

I reckon you will want to play this for that special someone this weekend.

Lana Del Rey – Arcadia

My queen finally 😍😍

“My body is a map of L.A.

I stand straight like an angel with a halo

Hangin’ out the Hilton Hotel window, screamin’

‘Heyo, baby, let’s go’…”

Mama sprinkled flirty lines in her poetic lyrics and I just can’t have enough of the vocals🥺.

I need to book a session with my therapist to get over this track.

Lyta, Seyi Vibez- Different Conversation

Lyta & Seyi Vibez - Different Conversations || 69entertainmentbrand

You’ve probably seen something like this on the internet “na person wey dey struggle dey hear Seyi Vibez”

True. He gives you that motivation. What do you expect from a talented, hardworking artist trying to blow without the backing of a label?

Teaming up with Lyta has become usual. And each time, you can’t just get enough of the mix of voices.

L.A.X – Faster

Amapiano cruise. That’s what this track is. Nothing more. Nothing less. It’s that song the DJ plays in between all other tracks to keep the party jamming.
